Dr. Ana grew up in Cuba and immigrated to the United States as a young adult, and as such, she is fluent in Spanish. She moved to Pittsburgh in 2022, and while she still visits her family in Miami in search of sun and warmth, she has grown to love her new community in Pittsburgh.

Dr. Ana received her Bachelor's of Science in Biology from Florida International University graduating cum laude. She received her dental degree from the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry and her certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from New York University College of Dentistry. She returned to San Francisco following her residency training and earned board certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She worked there for multiple years gaining experience in private practice, hospital dentistry, and community clinics. Through those experiences, she developed a broad skillset that she utilizes to expertly treat and care for all of her patients.

In 2022, Dr. Ana and her husband, a fellow dentist (specifically a periodontist), accepted positions at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Ana was an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, where she oversaw their busy pediatric dentistry clinic, teaching dental students and pediatric dental residents. 

It was during her time teaching that Dr. Ana met Dr. Jessie teaching together at the University of Pittsburgh. They quickly realized they held similar philosophies in providing quality, patient-centered dental care to pediatric patients. They also bonded over motherhood, as Dr. Ana and her husband welcomed their daughter since moving to Pittsburgh, while Dr. Jessie was getting ready to have her fourth child. 

While Dr. Ana enjoyed her time teaching, she realized the need for more practicing pediatric dentists in the area and was looking to transition back into private practice. As of July 2023, Growing Grins is lucky to add Dr. Ana as dentist in our practice alongside Dr. Jessie to help treat the increasing number of pediatric patients that are in need of our specialized care.
